What Are Healthy Triggers?
Healthy Triggers are what I call experiences (and other stuff) that set us off in the right way.
They are particularly helpful if you are plagued by trauma triggers. Or if you find your arousal easily ambushed (this can happen for a variety of reasons).
Healthy triggers are paths you carve in your brain that link a particular stimulus and an erotic response. This requires figuring out what always (or almost always) brings you pleasure, turns you on, or just puts you in a really relaxed state.
Can you find 1 thing that fits this bill?
It could be a particular kind of chocolate, an erotic story, a sexy song, a piece of clothing…
Can you schedule time this week to work with that item? I suggest one hour. Your Pleasure Hour. Initially, it’s best to work on these pathways alone, even if you have a partner.
You don’t have to think of this time as masturbation, especially if it’s hard to motivate yourself toward that kind of self-love. Instead, think of it as a time to relax and get to know what triggers you in the right way.
Your partner in shine.
