The Keepers is a Keeper.
After learning about this multi-part documentary about the murder of a nun in 1969, after discovering this film also involved sexual abuse crimes, I decided to check it out Netflix. Seven hours later, I emerged.
This film investigates rampant sexual assault at one Baltimore high school in the 1960s, but it points to many other related issues as well: protection of priests by the Catholic church, the stupidity of statute of limitations laws, how survivors heal, etc.
Regarding the latter, the filmmakers have set up an excellent resource website. It highlights traditional and lesson known healing modalities. Unfortunately, they left out sexual healing. I’m going to see if they can add this element.
Also…I might become part of the team that is investigating the murder of that nun, Sister Cathy. The people (or people) who killed her have never been identified.
I highly recommend this documentary. Be careful though, you may not see daylight for a while.
